COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 3-ranked Auburn women's golf team carded a 16-over 304 Friday, and will head into Saturday's final round in sixth place with a 34-over 610. Three Tigers are in the top 25 of the 126-player field with senior Patricia Sanz leading the way in a tie for 15th.

Conducted by the NCAA and Ohio State University, the NCAA Central Regional Championship is a 54-hole stroke play tournament being played at the Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club. The 24-team tournament features nine teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation. The par-72 course is playing at 6,264 yards for the tournament.

The NCAA Central Regional is one of three qualifying tournaments for the NCAA Championship, set for May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. The top eight teams from each of the three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championship.

"We lost a few shots out there today, it is a tough golf course and it was playing especially tough today," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "Everyone lost a shot or two here or there and it added up on us. We had a great first nine holes, made the turn and had a couple hiccups.

"I saw a lot more good things than bad out there today. We are just going to build on that and try to get after it tomorrow."

Auburn saw a two-stroke improvement from the first round, but dropped a place in the standings. However, the Tigers are still in the vital top eight and will be playing for a spot in the national championship on Saturday.

Patricia Sanz is the top Tiger after two rounds as her 5-over 77 placed her in a tie for 15th with a 7-over 151.

Junior Carlie Yadloczky had the best round of the day for Auburn, carding a 3-over 75 to finish the day in a tie for 21st at 8-over 152. She moved up 13 spots from the first round. Also in a tie for 21st is sophomore Marta Sanz after her 4-over 76 in the second round. She moved up eight places in the rankings.

Rounding out the lineup was senior Haley Wilson in a tie for 92nd. She moved up nine places in the standings after her 7-over 79 on Friday gave her a 18-over 162 for the tournament.

Southern California is tops in the team standings with a 12-over 588. Vanderbilt is second with a 24-over 600 while Virginia is third with a 28-over 604. Purdue and Oregon are tied for fourth with 32-over 608s with Auburn two strokes behind in sixth. North Carolina State and host Ohio State round out the top eight with a 611 and 612, respectively.

Auburn will return to the course in the morning, looking for its first trip to nationals since 2010. Evans said her team just needs to go out and play their game.

"They just have to keep their game plan and play," said Evans. "Get in the process and not worry about the distractions on the outside. They need to use their inner strength, they have it, and they are ready for this."

Tee times at the NCAA Central Regional will continue at 7 a.m. CT, Friday off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. Auburn will go in the morning wave, teeing off No. 10 from 8:06 - 8:50 a.m. CT. The Tigers will be playing alongside Purdue and Oregon.
