DALTON, Ga. - The No. 6 Auburn men's golf team finished in 14th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate after shooting a 23-over 311 in the final round on Sunday at The Farm.
Senior Michael Hebert led the way for the Tigers after finishing tied for 23rd at 4-over par shooting a 4-over 76. Hebert got off to a great start with a birdie on the par-4 first, but bogeyed Nos. 7, 8, and 9. The Orlando, Fla., native birdied No. 12 before bogeys on Nos. 13, 16 and 18.
Junior Niclas Carlsson finished tied for 26th at 5-over par. Carlsson entered the day at even par but bogeyed four of the first seven holes. He had back-to-back birdies on Nos. 9 and 10 to move to 2-over, but bogeyed the final three holes to finish at 5-over.
Sophomore Blake Soni entered the day tied for 19th at even par but shot an 8-over 80 to tie for 45th. Sophomore Michael Johnson tied for 58th after shooting a 6-over 78 to finish at 11-over while senior Dominic Bozzelli tied for 71st at 16-over after an 8-over 80 in the final round.
Auburn returns to action Sept. 15-16 at The McLaughlin in Farmingdale, N.Y., at the historic Bethpage Black.
