TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Auburn fell in its final road volleyball match of the 2012 season, dropping a 3-1 decision to Alabama (22-25, 17-25, 25-11, 14-25) on Sunday afternoon at Foster Auditorium.

The Tigers (17-11, 8-10 SEC) lost for the third straight match and saw a six-match winning streak over the Crimson Tide (17-13, 6-12 SEC) come to an end.

Sarah Bullock led Auburn with 15 kills and 13 digs for her ninth straight double-double and her 14th overall this season. Bullock also moved into fourth place all-time at Auburn in digs with 1,193 for her career. Katherine Culwell also had a double-double, her third straight, with 10 kills and 11 digs. Sarah Wroblicky led the Auburn defense with 14 digs, and Camila Jersonsky was the top Tiger at the net with eight kills and four blocks. Chelsea Wintzinger posted 27 assists and matched a career-high with three service aces, and Ciara Richards contributed two aces of her own along with 15 assists.

The Tigers were out-hit .246 to .216 and had just 45 kills to Alabama's 52. Auburn won the digs battle, 64-59, and out-blocked the Tide 8-4, and both teams had six service aces and eight errors.

Alabama was led by Kayla Fitterer with 12 kills, eight digs and four service aces. Katherine White also had 12 kills while hitting .500, and Laura Steiner added 10 kills. Libero Cristina Arenas had a match-high 22 digs.

A first set that saw 19 ties and nine lead changes went Alabama's way, 25-22, as the Tide won the last three points of the set on two Auburn errors and a kill from White. Both teams played well in the set with Auburn hitting .282 and Alabama hitting .333, but the late errors proved to be Auburn's undoing.

Set two was all Alabama as the Tide took a 25-17 win. Auburn hit just .067 with eight errors in the set while Alabama posted 13 kills with just two errors for a .440 percentage. Auburn took an early 10-7 lead, but Alabama went on a 9-1 run from that point and never looked back.

The Tigers would come out of the break and dominate the third set to the tune of a 25-11 win as Auburn held Alabama to a -.065 hitting percentage and just six kills. Meanwhile, Culwell and Bullock combined for nine kills in the set as Auburn hit a stellar .524, never trailing in the set. But the fourth set would be the exact opposite as Alabama rolled to a 25-14 win, taking Auburn out of system in the service game and holding the Tigers to an .086 percentage.

Auburn will wrap up the 2012 season with a pair of home matches at the Student Activities Center next week. The Tigers will host No. 16 Florida at 7 p.m. Wednesday before closing out the year with a 3 p.m. Friday match against Kentucky. Admission is free to all Auburn home volleyball matches.
