TAMPA, Fla. - The No. 2 Auburn men's golf team is currently in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Gary Koch Invitational on Saturday at the Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa, Fla. After shooting a 10-over 298 in the first round, the Tigers bounced back in the afternoon with a 6-under 282.
"I am happy we bounced back in the second round," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We are still very immature and very impatient. We have a lot of growing up to do. Hopefuly, we will continue from our strong finish in the afternoon."
Freshman Blake Soni, who is playing as an individual, is tied for ninth at 2-under. The Bradenton, Fla., native is competing in his first ever tournament for the Tigers.
Juniors Blayne Barber and Michael Hebert and senior Will McCurdy are tied for 17th at 1-over. After shooting a 5-over 77 in the first round, Hebert carded his lowest round of the season, a 4-under 68.
Sophomore Niclas Carlsson is tied for 32nd at 4-over, while junior Dominic Bozzelli is tied for 42nd at 8-over.
The Tigers will tee off Sunday morning at 7:45 CST with Alabama and Florida State. Live stats for the tournament can be found on www.golfstat.com
