COLLEGE STATION, Texas. - Auburn sophomore heptathlete Parker Shearer is in fourth with 2983 points after the first four events as day one of the SEC Indoor Championships concluded on Thursday at the Gilliam Indoor Stadium in College Station, Texas.
Shearer set a personal record in three of the four events as he bested his previous 60m time with a 7.42. The Mobile, Ala., native finished second in the shot put with a distance of 43-1.25/13.21m and was fourth in the long jump with a 22-6.50/6.86. In the high jump, Shearer was third with a clearance of 6-5.0/1.96m.
Action is slated to begin Friday at 1:00 with the men's 60m hurdles prelim, men's weight throw and women's pole vault. Live scoring for the event can be found online at www.flashresults.com.
The SEC Indoor Championship will be streamed online on ESPN3 as well as the Texas A&M website on Friday and Saturday. ESPN3 will be covering the event live on Friday and Saturday with Dwight Stones (play-by-play), Larry Rawson (analyst) and Lewis Johnson (sideline reporter) on the call. The SEC Indoor Championship will air as part of a 90-minute show on ESPNU on Monday, March 10, beginning at 6:30 pm CT.
