Men's Golf 7th After USF Invitational Opening Round

Daniel Stringfellow shot a 3-under 69, one stroke better than teammate Will Long's 2-under, 70, as the Auburn golf team opened up the USF Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the par-72, 7,153-yard Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. After one round No. 23 Auburn stands in seventh at minus-6, seven shots behind co-leaders UNC Greensboro and No. 20 Florida State (minus-13).

Stringfellow recorded seven birdies on the day, five of them on the back nine, to lead all Auburn players and stand tied for 13th heading into Monday's second round. Long had five birdies, with four coming on the back nine, and sits in a tie for 17th.

Jake Mondy is tied for 25th at minus-1 after recording three birdies while Niclas Carlsson and Ryan Benton both shot an even-par 72 and are tied for 37th.

Roy Dixon of UNC Greensboro leads all individuals after an opening-round 63 (minus-9).
