AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 20 Auburn women's tennis team was defeated by No. 5 Florida, 4-0, on Friday night at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. With the loss, Auburn moves to 14-4 (4-2 SEC).
In doubles, Florida's (13-3, 5-1 SEC) No. 35 Olivia Janowicz and Kourtney Keegan defeated Auburn's Paula de Man and Jackie Kasler, 8-1, at No. 2.
On court one, Auburn's No. 12 Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger edged out Florida's No. 24 Sofie Oyen and Belinda Woolcock, 8-6. The pair is now 12-0 in dual matches, 5-0 in conference play.
On court three, Auburn's Michala Kucharova and Jen Pfeifler battled to tie the match at 6-6, but fell in the tiebreaker 8-7 (3).
In singles, Kucharova fell on court four to No. 22 Alexandra Cercone 6-0, 6-1 to give Florida a 2-0 lead. On court three, the Gators' No. 38 Sofie Oyen raced past de Man, 6-2, 6-1. Florida's Kourtney Keegan clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Jen Pfeifler on court six.
Auburn will return to action on Sunday against No. 56 South Carolina at 1 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Admission is free.
