COLLEGE STATION, Texas Â- The No. 36 Auburn men's tennis team fell, 4-0, Saturday night to No. 10 Texas A&M at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas.
Auburn (14-10, 4-6 SEC) will play its final two regular season matches of the year at home next weekend against Tennessee and Georgia at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The Tigers will look to snap their five-match losing streak on their home court.
The Tigers fell behind early after 10th-ranked Texas A&M (20-5, 9-1 SEC) took the doubles point to begin the match. The Aggies' Tito Moreiras and Jordan Szabo downed Karl Fox and Jack Nicholas, 8-2 on court three to start play.
Oliver Plaskett and Joseph Van Dooren fell to the Texas A&M's second-ranked tandem of Junior Ore and Jackson Withrow, 8-5, on court one, allowing the Aggies' to secure the point.
Karl Fox made his first appearance of the season for the Tigers in singles, falling 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 line to Texas A&M's Frankie Colunga. On court four, Nicholas Kiger was defeated 6-0, 6-1 by the Aggies' Szabo to put Texas A&M up 3-0.
Texas A&M clinched the match as Auburn's Jack Nicholas fell 6-0, 6-1 to Max Lunkin on court five.
The Tigers return home to wrap up their home slate against Tennessee and Georgia next weekend. Auburn hosts the Volunteers on Friday at 5 p.m., while the Tigers take on the Bulldogs in their regular season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches are at the Yarbrough Tennis Center and admission is free.
