LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Auburn volleyball team dropped its third straight SEC match, falling, 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 17-25) to No. 13 Kentucky on Sunday at Memorial Coliseum.
Auburn (9-10, 1-5 SEC) hit just .012, the lowest mark by the Tigers in a match this season. Kentucky's strong blocking effort prevented the Tigers from getting into rhythm offensively as the Wildcats (16-2, 6-0 SEC) finished with 13 blocks in the match.
"When we got (Kentucky) out-of-system we had some success, but it's one of those things where every game we go in to is a serve-pass game," head coach Rick Nold said. "(Kentucky) got us out-of-system early and we didn't handle it well. It's a game of errors and we gave them too many points on errors today."
Stephanie Campbell and Emily Klitzke each collected seven kills as no Auburn player reached double-digits. Courtney Crable added in six kills, while Breanna Barksdale finished with five.
Alexa Filley dished out 23 assists moving the freshman into fourth place in Auburn single-season history with 696 assists. Alyssa Ivey led the Tigers with nine digs, while Mary Hannah Arrington logged eight.
Kentucky was led by Shelby Workman's 11 kills, while Sarah Schwazwalder posted nine kills along with a match-high 11 blocks. Lauren O'Connor added in seven kills while setter Morgan Bergren finished with 33 assists.
The Tigers were held to just 27 kills, 26 assists and three blocks while Kentucky finished with 39 kills, 11 blocks and five aces.
Auburn returns home on Friday, Oct. 17, to take on the Ole Miss Rebels at 7 p.m. at Auburn Arena. Admission is free to all home Auburn volleyball matches.
