AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn men's tennis team will have two players competing in the singles final and a team in the doubles final on Monday at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Tournament.
Senior Lukas Ollert and Sophomore Maxime Hinnisdaels, as well as doubles tandem Ollert and Marko Krickovic, will square off in the final match of the tournament after each won their respective semifinal matches.
Ollert, the one-seed in the tournament, won his semifinal match in two sets, defeating teammate Krickovic 6-4, 6-4. Hinnisdaels would drop the first set to Ole Miss's Stefan Lindmark, but would take the next two sets to win the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
"Hinnisdaels lost a tough first set, but I felt like he was playing well and in charge of the match. It was a good win for him," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "I also thought Ollert and Krickovic handled the situation well playing each other in the semifinals. I thought they were very professional about it."
The doubles pair would advance to the finals after defeating the first-seeded LSU doubles team of Tam Trinh and Eric Perez by a score of 6-2, 6-2. The duo will face Mississippi State's Julian Cash and Florian Lakat in the finals.
"We are gonna let them play the singles match and see what happens there," Shore said. "As far as doubles, we will get ready and try to play as well as we can."
The singles final will begin on Monday at 9 a.m., with the doubles final starting at 1 p.m. You can follow the tournament online at the USTA/ITA Regionals page.
