SAN ANTONIO - Three Auburn women's golfers are in the individual top 10 headed into Tuesday's final round of the Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
With the course yielding considerably fewer low scores than in the first round, Auburn was unable to duplicate its round for the record books from Sunday when the Tigers shot 13-under-par. Auburn posted a score of 295 (+7) Monday, dropping to third place.
LSU was one of only two teams to break par on the day and surged to a four-shot lead after shooting 284 (-4) Monday. Arkansas dropped to second place after a round of 292 (+4).
The Tigers will enter Tuesday's final round at 6-under-par for the tournament, seven shots behind LSU. Auburn will again be paired with Arkansas and LSU for Tuesday's final round, which is set to get underway with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring is available at birdiefire.com.
Freshman Kelli Murphy and sophomore Clara Baena led the way for Auburn with matching rounds of 73 (+1). Both got off to slow starts - Baena had four bogeys on the front nine and Murphy had three - but Baena put together a 2-under-par back nine and Murphy had three birdies on the day to finish the day just one shot over par. Baena is tied for seventh and Murphy is tied for 10th entering the final round.
Sophia Schubert, who shot a scorching 65 on Sunday, dropped out of the lead but remained in a tie for second place after shooting 74 (+2). She had three birdies and two bogeys, but a triple-bogey at the sixth derailed an otherwise solid round. At 5-under for the tournament, she is tied with Arkansas' Gaby Lopez and three shots behind LSU's Caroline Nistrup.
Senior Victoria Trapani shot a 75 (+3) to move to 4-over for the week, and junior Alex Harrell carded a 76 (+4).
