AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn men's tennis team advanced two players and one doubles team to the Round of 32 at the ESPN Disney Clay Court Championships in Orlando, Fla. on Thursday.
Junior Marko Krickovic and Sophomore Maxime Hinnisdaels each won their opening round matches, while Petar Tomic and Joseph Van Dooren advanced in the doubles draw.
"Marko and Max continued to their strong play in singles with wins today after a disappointing doubles match," head coach Eric Shore said. "I thought Joe and Petar played solid in their doubles match to advance to the next round."
Krickovic was taken to three sets by Virginia Tech's Aaron Gomez, but would eventually win the match 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-1. The junior takes on Christian Langmo of Miami on Friday. Hinnisdaels also faced a Virginia Tech player, defeating Rafael Ribas 6-1, 7-5. He also plays on Friday and will take on Georgia Tech's Cole Fiegel
The doubles tandem of Tomic and Van Dooren defeated Miami's Wilfredo Gonzalez and Christian Langmo in their opening match by a score of 8-6. The pair will face Nika Dolidze and Tomas Hauzlik of Penn state in the next round.
