AUBURN, Ala. - Sophomore Maxime Hinnisdaels advanced to the quarterfinals while Petar Tomic and Joseph Van Dooren advanced to the semifinals in doubles play on Day Two of the ESPN Disney Clay Court Championships on Friday.
Hinnisdaels returns to action on Saturday at 7 a.m. CT, while the doubles tandem plays their semifinal match at 1 p.m. CT.
"Max played better as the match went on. He is playing well and trusting what he has been working on," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "Joe and Petar had energy at the start of their match and it carried them to a win. It was a good effort today and I am looking forward to tomorrow."
The sophomore won his Round of 32 match, defeating Cole Fiegel of Georgia Tech 6-3, 6-0. He would later defeat seven-seed Cristian Gonzalez Mendez of Florida State 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Tomic and Van Dooren continued to their tournament success by defeating Penn State's Nika Dolidze an Tomas Hanzlik by a score of 8-6.
Auburn junior Marko Krickovic won his first match over Christian Langmo of Miami 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(6). Krickovic would fall to five-seed Diego Hidalgo of Florida in the Round of 16 by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
