BATON ROUGE, La. - Auburn volleyball struggled offensively against a tough-blocking LSU team, falling 3-0 (16-25, 22-25, 20-25) in its final road match of the season at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Sunday.
LSU (18-8, 13-4 SEC) out-hit Auburn (12-17, 4-12 SEC), .252-.097 and finished with nine team blocks in the three-set match. Stingy defense along with a strong block and serve game from LSU kept Auburn off-balance for parts of the match.
"We didn't match their defensive intensity throughout the match," head coach Rick Nold said. "I thought we had opportunities to make plays against them and our effort wasn't there. We've got to turn things around get focused for our last two home matches to close out the season on a strong note."
Stephanie Campbell led Auburn with 10 kills to go along with four digs and two blocks. Courtney Crable finished with nine kills and seven digs. Macy Reece posted eight kills while Breanna Barksdale and Emily Klitzke also added in a pair of blocks.
Alexa Filley had a team-high 30 assists and logged 10 digs to pick up her 10th double-double in SEC play. Alyssa Ivey recorded 17 digs to lead Auburn's defense. The junior libero now has 400 digs this year - her total ranks as the fifth-most in a single-season by an Auburn player since 25-point rally scoring began in 2008.
LSU was led by Cati Leak's 13-kill, 12-dig performance while Briana Holman posted 11 kills and hit a match-high .364. Emily Ehrle had six blocks, while Holman and setter Malorie Pardo collected three. Pardo also posted 38 assists with three service aces. Haley Smith led LSU with a match-high 24 digs.
