Cinzia Calabretta earned her first win on tower this season Wednesday
BATON ROUGE, La. - Seniors Cinzia Calabretta and Fraser McKean earned wins for the Auburn men and women in platform finals on the last day of action at the LSU Diving Invitational.
McKean set a personal-best with a 415.40 in the men's one-list final. Calabretta's five-dive list of 268.25 in the women's final set a pool record at the LSU Natatorium and improved the Orlando, Fla., native's NCAA zone diving mark for this season.
The victory for McKean gave the senior a sweep at the three-day invite after earning first-place finishes on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards during the first two days of competition. Calabretta's score was a season-best for the senior and her first win on tower this year.
"Both Cinzia and Fraser put together really solid lists and had a good day. Getting a personal-best from Fraser is always a strong way to end a competition," diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "For Cinzia, it may not be her best score yet, but she was very consistent throughout the final. We've been striving for that kind of consistency in training."
"For us, we treated this as a training trip and competition. I feel good about the progress that everyone is making. We'll get some down time this week and start focusing on our championship season."
Freshman Pete Turnham posted a 244.95 to take sixth overall in the men's final.
Auburn's divers return to action after the holiday break at the Tennessee Diving Invite, Jan. 3-5. The full squad hosts Texas at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m.
