Sophomore Lucia Scaglione is studying Pre-Med and wants to become an oncologist. The Tampa, Fla., native chose Auburn to experience a new place and feels as though she is surrounded by the southern hospitality of the Auburn Family. Scaglione values the qualities in each of her teammates and is looking forward to what the 2015 season has to offer for the Tigers.
Q: Why Auburn?
A: "I chose Auburn because I wanted to go someplace new. When I visited, I loved how beautiful the campus was. I was really interested in the academic opportunities that the school has to offer as well as the athletic opportunities in the gymnastics program."
Q: What is your most prized possession?
A: "My most prized possession is my Chapstick, because I can't go anywhere without it. I'm addicted! I put it on once every hour."
Q: If you could have dinner with any person (athlete or not), who would it be and why?
A: "Chris Hemsworth. He is the love of my life."
Q: What is your dream job when gymnastics comes to and end?
A: "My dream job is to be an oncologist to help people recover from cancer. I've always wanted to work in a hospital, and cancer really fascinates me."
Q: Do you have any nicknames? How did you get it?
A: "My nicknames are Lu, Chia Pet, Lucci Gucci, Luch, Lui, Luchichi and Lucia Swaglione. I got those nicknames because people struggle with the pronunciation of my name. People have jokingly come up with these nicknames for the most part."
Q: What do you like to do outside of gymnastics?
A: "I like watching movies, cooking, going to the beach and sleeping outside of gymnastics."
Q: What teammate (past or present) do you look up to and why?
A: "I don't look up to a single person specifically, but there are certain qualities that each of my teammates have that I look up to."
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: "My favorite Auburn tradition would be rolling Toomer's Corner after a football win."
Q: What does the Auburn Family mean to you?
A: "To me, the Auburn Family means being surrounded by friendly people. Everyone in Auburn really has that southern hospitality."
