AUBURN, Ala. - Junior shortstop Cody Nulph went 4-for-5 at the plate, but Auburn baseball fell to Binghamton 11-5 on Saturday at Plainsman Park.

"I think we lost some focus on the mound," Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway said. "When you're behind, I think it is easy to lose focus. We've got to develop some maturity on the mound and not lose focus. It's going to take games to do that."

The Tigers went with a pre-determined four inning appearance for starter Trey Wingenter. The junior from Madison, Ala. allowed two runs in his 4.0 innings of work with a pair of strikeouts.

Kevin Davis followed, but was pulled after allowing a walk and then hitting a batter. Both would eventually score. In total, Auburn used six pitchers on the night.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, Auburn answered with a pair of runs in the third inning to tie the game with Kyler Deese scoring on an error and Anfernee Grier scoring behind a double play.

Binghamton added three in the fifth, but Auburn countered with runs in both the fifth and sixth innings with RBIs by Nulph and Deese to cut the deficit to 5-4.

The Bearcats knocked in two in the seventh inning then added four more in the eighth.

After a two-out triple, Auburn's Damon Haecker scored on a RBI single by Sam Gillikin in the eighth inning. Gillikin (2-for-2, RBI) and Haecker (2-for-2, two runs) both recorded two hits off the bench.

Mike Bunal got the win for Binghamton with a set four inning appearance. He allowed four hits, two runs (one earned) with four strikeouts.

Auburn goes for the series win on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.
