LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Auburn men's track and field team finished ninth with 34 points and the women's team placed 11th with 21 points on Saturday at the SEC Indoor Championships.

"Fortunately for us we had a good first day," head coach Ralph Spry said. "We missed too many opportunities today and that is what it comes down to. It is frustrating, but we have to regroup because we have a solid team. Indoors is always a grind for us due to the weather and how we can prepare. Not to take away from the people that had a good meet, because Ty (McCormack) and Samantha (Scarlett) ran well, but we have to put this behind us and get ready for outdoors."

Senior Ty McCormack scored six points in the 5000m, finishing third with a time of 13:56.75. In the mile, senior Kane Grimster clocked a season-best time of 4:04.34 to finish fifth.

Sophomore Parker Shearer recorded a sixth place finish in the heptathlon with 5378 points, the fifth-highest point total in school history. Senior Keenan Brock placed eighth in the 60m final at 6.76.

Senior Samantha Scarlett tied her personal best in the 60m hurdles at 8.20 to finish fourth. In the women's weight throw, sophomore Brianna Heilsnis set a personal record with a distance of 59-5/18.12m, finishing ninth.
