AUBURN, Ala. - Damon Haecker was 3-for-3 with three walks to reach base six times, but Auburn baseball fell to Jacksonville State on Sunday 10-9.

Auburn (9-3) battled through a see-saw game to take a 9-7 lead entering the eighth inning, but relievers Sam Mason and Justin Camp allowed three runs to score as the Gamecocks took a 10-9 lead.

The Tigers got two on in the bottom of the ninth, but Jordan Ebert grounded out to second to end the threat.

Hunter Tackett keyed a three-run first inning for Auburn with a double that plated a pair. Blake Logan also added a sacrifice fly and an RBI as the Tigers took an early 3-0 lead.

After JSU (6-3) bounced back with five in the top of the second, Auburn added runs in the second and third innings to leave the score tied.

The Gamecocks again moved ahead in the fourth with a single run before Auburn got the offense going again with four runs in the fifth. Auburn equaled its most hits in an inning with five as Anfernee Grier doubled in a pair in before coming around to score on a wild pitch and Logan added an RBI single.

Grier finished the game 2-for-6 as he extended his career-best hitting streak to 14 games.

Cody Nulph was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Alex Polston and Kyler Deese both added two hits.

Mason (0-1) took the loss for Auburn in his first career appearance as Auburn used seven total pitchers. Grant Chandler earned the victory for JSU with two innings of one-hit relief.

Both Ryan Sebra and Paschal Petrongolo had two hits and two RBI to lead Jacksonville State.

Auburn is in action next on Tuesday in the MAX Capital City Classic at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium against rival Alabama.
