COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Jordan Ebert singled and walked twice to extend his reached base streak to 18 games, but Auburn fell to No. 6 Texas A&M 6-2 on Friday at Blue Bell Park.

Auburn (13-5) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Daniel Robert. The hit to left drove home Damon Haecker from second after he reached base on a hit by a pitch.

Hunter Melton's grand slam in the second inning put Texas A&M on top 4-1. The home run was the first allowed by Auburn pitcher Keegan Thompson in his Auburn career in 114.1 innings pitched.

After giving up the grand slam, Thompson settled in and allowed just two hits over the next six innings. He allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts and four walks in 6-plus innings and fell to 3-2 on the season.

Auburn cut into the deficit in the fourth inning with an RBI double by Blake Logan that chased home Cody Nulph. Logan's RBI closed the gap to 4-2.

Texas A&M (19-0) tacked on some insurance in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run double by Melton. He was 2-for-4 with six RBI.

Nick Banks was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

The Tigers threatened more in the fourth and had two on in the fifth, but were unable to convert either opportunity.

Texas A&M starter Grayson Long improved to 4-0 on the season. He pitched 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.

Auburn and Texas A&M meet again on Saturday at 4 p.m. in a game that will be televised by SEC Network.
