Auburn concludes stroke play at Liz Murphey Collegiate

ATHENS, Ga. - The Auburn women's golf team finished the 18-hole stroke-play qualifier Friday at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in 12th place at the UGA Golf Course.

Cold and windy conditions in Athens led to high scores across the board as only one player in the field broke par on the day. The Tigers posted a team round of 323 (+35) and will compete in a round-robin match play bracket with Purdue, Stanford and Alabama on Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Victoria Trapani led the way for Auburn with a 5-over-par 77 to tie for 15th overall. Freshman Sophia Schubert was one shot back at 78 (+6), but finished on a high note with an eagle at the par-5 ninth, her final hole of the day.

Arkansas' Regina Plasencia was the stroke-play medalist at 1-under-par 71, with South Carolina's Justine Dreher in second place at even par. UCLA earned the top seed in the weekend's match play tournament at 13-over-par 301.

The Tigers will face Purdue in match play beginning at 8:20 a.m. CT Saturday, starting on the No. 1 tee. Auburn will then take on Stanford in the afternoon match, which is slated for a 1:20 p.m. start on the No. 10 tee. Live results are available at birdiefire.com.
