ATHENS, Ga. - The Auburn women's golf team finished out the week at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Sunday, tying Alabama 2.5-2.5 in match play at the UGA Golf Course.
Alabama was declared the winner of the match on a tiebreaker by virtue of the Crimson Tide being the higher seeded team.
Freshmen Sophia Schubert and Kelli Murphy earned individual wins for the Tigers. Schubert defeated Alabama's Emma Talley, 3 and 2, to pick up her second match-play win of the weekend. Murphy picked up her first win with a 4-and-3 victory over the Tide's Mia Landegren.
Senior Victoria Trapani finished the week 1-1-1 after completing 18 holes all square with Alabama's Nicole Morales. Trapani had the Tigers' lone win in Saturday's match with Stanford.
Southern California claimed the match play title with a championship match win over Georgia.
Auburn will play its final tournament of the regular season next weekend as the Tigers travel to the Bryan National Collegiate. The tournament runs Friday-Sunday at the Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center near Greensboro, North Carolina.
