AUBURN, Ala. - No. 44 Auburn women's tennis put together a complete performance Friday, sweeping Missouri 7-0 on Senior Day indoors at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Auburn (15-11, 3-9 SEC) earned its fourth straight victory over Missouri as the Tigers honored seniors Emily Flickinger, Michala Kucharova and Jen Pfefiler prior to Friday's match. Missouri fell to 8-16 overall, 0-12 in the SEC.
"It was great win today for our team," head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. "I thought we put together a really good performance on the court to earn the win. It was a special day to honor our seniors. All three have had amazing careers here at Auburn and have helped us build a foundation for the future. We have a lot ahead of us and we need to close strong against Arkansas on Sunday."
Auburn collected wins on courts one and three to grab the doubles point from Missouri to begin the match. Reka Muller and Jen Pfeifler earned their 12th win of the season with an 8-3 victory on court three over Missouri's Kelli Hine and Clare Raley in the first match off the court.
The Tigers' fifth-ranked tandem of Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger claimed the doubles point with an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 line over Missouri's Brianna Lashway and Brittany Lashway. The victory by Burgmans/Flickinger marked the duo's 23rd win of the season.
Paula de Man quickly put Auburn up 2-0 with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory on court five against Missouri's Brittany Lashway. The win marked the junior's 10th victory in dual match play this season.
Muller closed out her match at the No. 4 line with a strong performance, topping Brianna Lashway 6-4, 6-0. No. 81 Burgmans clinched the match for Auburn with a 6-2, 6-1 victory on court one against Hine.
Andie Dikosavljevic collected her 14th dual match win of the season, defeating Missouri's Cassidy Spearman at the No. 2 line, 6-4, 6-4. Flickinger earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Bea Machado Santos on court five to push Auburn's advantage to 6-0. With her two wins Friday, Flickinger tied former teammate Jackie Kasler (2010-14) for the fourth-most combined victories in program history with 105.
Pfeifler battled back from dropping the opening set to knock off Missouri's Clare Raley 6-7 (1), 6-3, 1-0 (9) on court six. The win for Pfeifler moved the senior to 7-6 at the No. 6 line this season and gave the Gulf Breeze, Fla., native her 139th combined win as a Tiger.
