AUBURN, Ala. - Anfernee Grier had his seventh three-hit game of the season as Auburn baseball defeated Georgia State 4-2 on Wednesday at Plainsman Park.
"How about our three [pitchers]," Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway said. "That was Robby's [Clements] first career start and he pitched really well. I thought [Milliman] came in and pitched really good and took control of the game for us."
Jacob Milliman (4 K, 0 BB, 1 H) earned his first career victory with four innings in relief of starter Robby Clements. Making his first career start, Clements pitched three innings with two runs allowed on five hits.
With the win, Milliman improved to 1-0 on the season. Dalton Rentz earned his first career save.
In total, the Auburn bullpen chipped in with six scoreless innings.
The Tigers (20-13) scored in four different innings including an RBI double by Ben Craft in the first, a run-scoring groundout by Blake Logan in the fourth, a RBI single by Daniel Robert in the fifth.
Robert also came in to score on a wild pitch in the sixth as Auburn took a 4-2 lead.
Georgia State scored a single run in both the second and third innings.
Joey Roach had two hits to lead Georgia State (19-15). Marc-Andre Habeck (L, 3-5) took the loss with three runs allowed in four innings.
The Panthers used seven total pitchers.
Damon Haecker and Sam Gillikin both added two hits.
Auburn is in action next on Friday when it opens a three-game series on the road with third-ranked LSU.
