AUBURN, Ala. - Daniel Robert had two RBIs, but Auburn baseball fell 14-4 in the series finale with Alabama on Sunday at Plainsman Park.
"[Daniel Robert scorches a ball with the bases loaded and [Georgie] Salem makes a great play. You have to give him credit there," Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway said. "If he doesn't make that catch, we are able to take the lead. Clearly, the scoreboard is not indicative of how close the game was."
Robert tallied his fourth and fifth RBIs of the weekend. He has driven in 17 runs in his last 16 games and leads the team with 34 RBIs for the season.
Auburn (32-20, 12-15) fell behind 5-0 over the first six innings, but pushed three runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run triple by Robert and a RBI single from Damon Haecker.
The Crimson Tide got another run in the seventh on a wild pitch, but one again Auburn responded with one run on a bases loaded walk by Sam Gillikin to cut the deficit to 6-4.
Alabama (28-24, 11-16) then scored eight in the ninth taking advantage of three Auburn errors.
Geoffrey Bramblett improved to 7-3 with the victory. He allowed three runs in six innings of work with six strikeouts.
Georgie Salem and JC Wilhite had four hits. Will Haynie hit a two-run home run in the sixth.
Auburn's Dalton Rentz (3-2) took the loss with three runs (one earned) in four innings.
Jackson Burgreen had two hits. Gillikin and Haecker added RBIs.
Auburn closes out its 2015 home schedule on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Morehead State.
