AUBURN, Ala. - Robby Clements allowed two runs in 5.2 innings as Auburn baseball defeated Morehead State 7-3 on Tuesday at Plainsman Park.

"It's not an easy victory because Morehead came in here with a really good record at 33-18," Auburn head coach Sunny Golloway said. "Regardless of what conference they play in they can really swing the bat. We had concerns with their batting average and how many home runs they've hit and in this ballpark the ball flies out of here, we all know that. We had our concerns and we were thin on the pitching side. We had to score some runs and get started. Our guys knew that and we spent a lot of time yesterday on our hitting philosophy and trying to attack."

Clements pitched 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits. He struck out three with no walks to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Anfernee Grier had two hits to lead Auburn. Six different Tigers drove in runs.

Making his first start since March 15, Alex Polston doubled hit a two-run double to centerfield in the second inning to give Auburn a 2-0 lead.

Morehead State used a sac fly by Braxton Morris in the top of the third to cut the Auburn lead to 2-1.

The Tigers (33-20) came right back in the bottom of the third as they sent eight men to the plate and scored four runs on five hits to push their lead to 6-1. Daniel Robert, Damon Haecker, Blake Logan and Cody Nulph had RBIs in the inning.

The Eagles closed the gap to four in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Kane Sweeney, but Melvin Gray's RBI squeeze bunt in the bottom half made it 7-2 in favor of Auburn.

Morehead State (33-19) added an unearned runs in the ninth.

Patrick McGuff took the loss for Morehead State to drop to 1-2.

Ryan Kent had three hits.

Auburn wraps up the 2015 regular season at No. 6 Florida beginning Thursday.
