EUGENE, Ore. - Sophomore Kahlil Henderson qualified for the 200m final on Wednesday as the Auburn track and field team opened competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Henderson clocked a personal-best time of 20.29 to finish sixth in the semifinals. The Hollywood, Fla., native's time ranks as the ninth-fastest time in program history. The 200m final will begin at 8:24 p.m. CT on Friday.

"I got off to a pretty good start and I saw the guy in lane six run up on me, so I just went with him to finish strong," Henderson said. "I just wanted to make the finals or at least set a new personal record. My experience last year helped me, because I was nervous as a freshman. Today, I knew how to deal with the pressure and the nerves. I am expecting to do better than sixth place like I did last year. I am just going to run my hardest and see what happens."

Sophomore Teray Smith finished 10th in the 200m semis with a personal-best time of 20.34. The 4x100 relay team of senior Torrey Campbell, Henderson, junior Joe Fisher and Smith finished 16th at 39.82.

The women's championships will begin Thursday at 6:45 p.m. CT with the pole vault. Live coverage of day two can be seen on ESPNU from 6-7:30 p.m. CT and on ESPN from 7:30-9:30 p.m. CT. Live results for the NCAA Championships can be found online here.
