AUBURN, Ala. - Junior Casie Ramsier may have gone without a goal in last week's opening matches, but she made up for it Friday night, scoring twice in a 4-0 victory over UAB in Auburn soccer's home opener. The 16th-ranked Tigers were looking for their first 3-0-0 start since 2006 and both the Ramsier twins made sure that happened without a hitch.

Brooke Ramsier scored the opening goal in the 29th minute on a penalty kick, her second goal of the season, before her sister Casie followed up with two goals of her own in the 39th and 69th minutes.

Senior Kala Faulkner, a defender, also got her first goal of the season after UAB was called for a hand ball in the box in the final minute. Faulkner finished the PK with ease, hitting the net on the left side for the final dagger. For Faulkner, it was the third goal of her career.

As for Ramsier, her second goal was a great individual effort from just outside the box after the header pass from sophomore Courtney Schell. Ramsier split the defenders and got in a 1v1 with the keeper. Ramsier made the most of the opportunity and beat the goalie in the top right corner to make it 3-0 Auburn.

For Ramsier, it was her first two-goal effort in a single game in her career and the first two goal outing by an Auburn player since 2012 when Mary Coffed scored twice against Alabama.

On defense, Auburn put up the clean sheet for the third-straight match, limiting UAB to just four shots, two in each half. Redshirt freshman Sarah Le Beau earned her third win in a row and third shutout in a row.

The third shutout makes Le Beau the first Auburn goalkeeper to record three-straight shutouts in her first three collegiate starts in over 10 years.

As a team on offense, Auburn put up 20 shots, its largest total in any of the three matches so far this season. Casie Ramsier came away with the big number, her eight shots is a new career single-game high, with the only two on target coming away as goals.

Post-game Quotes from head coach Karen Hoppa and selected players:

"Casie's (Ramsier) has been playing really well. Goal scoring is one of those things that can get in your head a little bit. Tonight, I told her 'This Auburn team is the best team you've ever played on so far, so take the pressure off yourself and go out and have fun,' and she was great. She was flying all over the place, hitting two cross bars in the first half and I was really happy that she got on the board." - Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa

"Her (Casie Ramsier's) second goal was something we worked on this week. We wanted to press the field and Casie is one of the best there is at reading those passes and timing her ability to pick off passes. She created that goal herself and I was happy she finished it." - Head coach Karen Hoppa

"Sarah's (Le Beau) has been great for us so far. To be fair, Alyse (Scott) has been great too. I've got two SEC-level goalkeepers on this team. We're blessed for that. They're both high quality goalkeepers and we have confidence in both of them." - Head coach Karen Hoppa

Turning Point

In the 69th minute, Auburn was looking for that third goal to put the game out of reach for UAB. With already one goal in the match, Casie Ramsier created another chance for herself after receiving the header pass from Courtney Schell. Ramsier was able to split the final two defenders as she entered the top of the box and beat the goalkeeper with a laser shot into the top right corner.
