DALTON, Ga. -- The sixth-ranked Auburn men's golf team is in second after the second round at the Carpet Capital Collegiate, shooting an even-par 288 at the Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Ga. on Saturday. The Tigers (293-288--581) are three strokes behind No. 17 Alabama (289-289--578).
All-SEC senior Michael Johnson is in fourth after shooting a second round 2-under 70 with birdies on Noa. 2, 5, 12 and 18 for a two-day total 3-under 141.
All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest and freshman Jacob Solomon are tied for 14th with a 73-73--146, junior Will Long is tied for 31st after shooting a second round even-par 72 for a 78-72--150 two-day total, and freshman Graysen Huff is tied for 68th at 76-84--160. Freshman Mark Lawrence, playing as an individual, is tied for 78th at 81-82--168.
No. 13 Georgia Tech (286-296--582) is in third followed by Clemson (296-287--583), No. 8 South Carolina (289-295--584), No. 2 LSU (291-301--592), Kennesaw State (299-297--596), No. 14 South Florida (297-301--598), Tennessee (303-296--599) and No. 22 North Carolina (299-303--602).
No. 23 Florida (304-299--603) is in 11th followed by Ole Miss (296-310--606), Chattanooga (305-306--611), North Florida (307-306--613) and Dalton State (315-303--618).
The Carpet Capital Collegiate concludes on Sunday.
