FRANKLIN, Tenn. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Senior Alex Harrell picked up the seventh top-20 finish of her career to lead the Auburn women's golf team at the Mason Rudolph Championship, which concluded Sunday.
The Tigers shot a final-round 305 (+17) to finish in eighth place in the 17-team field at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. For the week, Auburn posted scores of 287-288-305 (+16).
Senior Alex Harrell led the way for the week with scores of 69-72-76=217 (+1) to tie for 20th place. It was the seventh top-20 finish of her career, the highest total on the current roster. Harrell's first-round 69 was the best by an Auburn player so far this season, and her total of 217 matched a career-best 54-hole score.
Junior Clara Baena and sophomores Kelli Murphy and Michaela Owen all posted 54-hole totals of 221 (+5) to tie for 36th place. Murphy and Owen had matching scores all three days with both sophomores shooting 73-73-75, while Baena went 72-70-79. Murphy had the steadiest final round for the Tigers with a birdie and 13 pars.
Sunday's round at Vanderbilt wrapped up a stretch where Auburn played six competitive rounds in eight days at two tournaments, traveling from Charleston, S.C., to the Nashville area between events.
The Tigers will return to action Oct. 9-11 when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
