MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The second-ranked Auburn men's golf team is tied for second after 36 holes at the Primland Collegiate Invitational, firing a 13-under 283-280--563 at the Primland Resort in Meadows of Dan, Va. on Monday. All-SEC senior Michael Johnson is the individual leader after shooting a school record 15-under 64-65-129. Play was suspended due to darkness.

Johnson broke Jay Moseley's 2006 John Burns Intercollegiate 36-hole score of 12-under 132 by three strokes. The Birmingham, Ala., native also shot the second-lowest 18-hole score in school history with his first round 8-under 64, tying teammate Matt Gilchrest's 2014 Amer Ari Invitational and Stuart Moore's 2006 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate score.

In the opening round, Johnson birdied Nos. 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, 12, 15 and 18. He followed that with an eagle on the third hole and birdies on Nos. 5, 6, 9, 14, 16 and 18 in the second round.

Clouds covering the 15 and 16 fairways, which are located at the highest point on the mountain, caused an hour delay during the round for the Tigers while the rest of the course was playing.

Freshman Jacob Solomon (70-74-144) is tied for 12th at even-par and redshirt junior Ryan Benton (76-69-145) is tied for 20th at 1-over. Benton fired a second round 3-under 69 with birdies on Nos. 1, 5, 7, 11 and 16 to climb 16 spots from the previous round. All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest (73-74-147) is tied for 27th at 3-over and All-American sophomore Ben Schlottman (79-72-151) is tied for 37th.

North Carolina has a three-shot lead at 16-under followed by Auburn and No. 11 Wake Forest at 13-under, Pepperdine (6-under), Penn State (3-under), Yale (14-over), Loyola-Maryland (14-over), Virginia Tech (300-291-591) and Davidson College (22-over).

The Primland Collegiate Invitational concludes with the remainder of the second round and the final 18 holes on Tuesday. The forecast for Tuesday calls for 90 percent chance of rain. In the event the second round cannot be completed, scores will be reverted back to the end of the first round as Auburn was tied for second.
