CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The Auburn women's golf team wrapped up their weekend at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
The Tigers finished in 12th place overall, posting rounds of 298-304-303=905 (+41). Auburn was one shot behind South Carolina and two back of LSU, and the Tigers finished three shots ahead of Oregon and Wake Forest.
Sophomore Michaela Owen was Auburn's top finisher for the week, tying for 36th place with rounds of 74-74-77=225 (+9). The low rounds of Sunday's final round belonged to freshman Melanie Talbott and junior Clara Baena, who both posted 3-over-par 75s. Talbott tied for 39th along with senior Alex Harrell at 226 (+10).
Duke took the team title at 3-over-par for the week, 13 shots ahead of runner-up Arkansas. The Blue Devils' Leona Maguire was the individual medalist at 4-under-par.
Auburn will wrap up the fall season next week as the Tigers travel to the West Coast for the Stanford Intercollegiate. The tournament runs Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 18-20, in Stanford, Calif.
