Junior Will Long has a one shot lead at 8-under heading into the U.S. Collegiate final round

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The No. 1 Auburn men’s golf team is a shot back in second at 6-under after the U.S. Collegiate Championship second round at the Golf Club of Georgia on Saturday.

The Tigers (285-285--570), who jumped from fourth after the first round, trail No. 5 Wake Forest (284-285--569). Junior Will Long is the individual leader at 8-under 136, firing a pair of career low-tying 68s.

Long birdied Nos. 4, 5, 10, 14 and 16 in the second round and holds a one shot lead over Cameron Young of Wake Forest (68-69—137).

All-SEC senior Michael Johnson, who is on the Haskins Award Watch List, is tied for 11th at 2-under 70-72—142. Freshman Jacob Solomon climbed nine spots and is tied for 27th at 73-73—146. The Dublin, Calif., native tallied six birdies in the second round on Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 9 on the front nine and Nos. 15 and 18 on the back. All-American sophomore Ben Schlottman is tied for 58th at 78-72—150 and freshman Mark Lawrence is tied for 64th at 74-77—151.

No. 4 Florida State (290—572) is in third followed by East Tennessee State (282—575), No. 21 Clemson (293—579), No. 8 Stanford (289—579), No. 22 Virginia (298—581), No. 9 Oklahoma (292—581), No. 13 Texas (292—584), No. 19 Georgia Tech (299—585) and No. 7 Southern California (287—585).

No. 2 Oklahoma State (292—590) is tied for 12th with LSU (293—590) followed by Kent State (297—592), No. 24 UCLA (293—593), Ole Miss (303—595) and Iowa (293—596).

The U.S. Collegiate Championship concludes on Sunday.
