Alex Harrell led the Tigers in the final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate.
STANFORD, Calif. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Senior Alex Harrell shot a final-round 71 to lead the Auburn women's golf team in the Stanford Intercollegiate as the fall golf season wrapped up Tuesday.
The Tigers finished in 17th place with a final-round 300 (+16), improving by 14 shots over their second-round effort.
Harrell's even-par 71 was Auburn's best round of the week and her fourth round at par or better in the fall season. Starting on the back nine, she made the turn at 2-over after bogeys at the 10th and 12th. But she played at 2-under over the final 15 holes, getting back to even par with birdies at Nos. 2 and 7. A bogey-birdie finish kept her at even par for the day. For the week, she shot 224 (+11) and tied for 51st place.
Michaela Owen and Melanie Talbott both posted 54-hole totals of 230 (+17). Owen shot a final-round 75 while Owen recorded a 76.
Stanford captured the team title on its home course at 5-under for the week. Southern California was the runner up, seven shots back. UCLA's Bronte Law was the individual medalist at 8-under-par 205.
With the fall season concluded, the Tigers will resume competition in February. The first event is the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship on Feb. 6 in Athens, Ga., and the first full team event is Feb. 14-16 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
