Freshman Graysen Huff is tied for second with a 1-under 71 after the first round of the ASU Fall Beach Classic

GULF SHORES, Ala. -- The No. 1 Auburn men's golf B-team is in first after the first round at the ASU Fall Beach Classic with a 2-over 290 at the Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club on Sunday. The Tigers are three strokes ahead of host Arkansas State (293) with four golfers finishing in the top-12.
Auburn was also set to compete at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas, Monday and Tuesday but the tournament has been cancelled due to inclement weather making the grounds unplayable.
Freshman Graysen Huff is tied for second at 1-under 71. The Eagle, Idaho, native carded five birdies on Nos. 1, 2, 8, 14 and 18.
All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest is tied for fifth at even-par and freshman Mark Lawrence is 1-over 73 and tied for eighth. Lawrence had five birdies on Nos. 1, 4, 13, 16 and 18. All-American sophomore Ben Schlottman is tied for 12th at 2-over 74 and freshman Trace Crowe, playing in his first collegiate tournament, shot a 77 to tie for 33rd. Junior Blake Messer, playing as an individual, is tied for 45th with a 79.
Tennessee Tech (298) is in third followed by the University of New Orleans (301), Arkansas-Little Rock (301), Samford (304), Murray State (304), Meridian CC (307) and Nichols State (307).
Appalachian State (308) is 10th and UT-Martin (312) is 11th.
Seth Garner of Arkansas State is the individual leader at 2-under 70.
