AUBURN, Ala. -- Bruce Pearl checked off all the players who couldn't play, then happily found a bunch who could.

Walk-on Zach Allison led Auburn with eight assists and Pearl's new lineup found the shooting range in a 99-59 exhibition win over Division II Brevard College on Friday night in Auburn Arena.

Pearl played the game without three injured guards and another who hasn't been cleared. That didn't stop Auburn from firing up 34 3-pointers, hitting 14 of them

"The team that was prepared to play this week looked a lot different than the team we had out there," Pearl said. "It was kind of an incredible week."

Auburn lost TJ Lang to an MCL sprain, Tajh Shamsid-Deen to a shoulder injury and Bryce Brown to a tight back in the last week. Danjel Purifoy is still waiting to be cleared.

"What happens? All of sudden Zach Allison has to play," Pearl said.

"The team," said fellow guard New Williams, "loves seeing him doing what he did tonight."

While one group of Auburn guards couldn't play, another group most certainly could. Allison, Williams, Kareem Canty and T.J. Dunans combined for 41 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists.

Veteran Cinmeon Bowers led Auburn with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Canty and Williams each had 16 points, Tyler Harris had 14 and Dunans had 10.

Pearl played 12 players and constantly mixed and matched his lineup. The Tigers shot a sporty 56 percent from the floor in the second half and had only 10 turnovers for the game.

"This will the weakest opponent we will face this year," Pearl said. But... "Overall, it was a good first effort."

Auburn will play its second and final exhibition game against Indianapolis at 6 p.m. next Thursday, the last stop before opening the season against UAB on Nov. 13 in Auburn Arena.
