AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" The second-ranked Auburn men's golf team tees off at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate Monday through Tuesday at the par 70, 7,228-yard Old Overton in Vestavia Hills, Ala.
The twelve-team field includes No. 5 Florida State, host-Alabama, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Baylor, Kennesaw State, UTSA, UNLV, UAB and Charlotte.
All-SEC senior Michael Johnson (69.60) will be in the leadoff spot. The Birmingham, Ala., native is currently ranked second in the Golfweek Individual Rankings after winning the third individual title of his career at the Primland Collegiate. Johnson broke the Auburn 36-hole record by shooting a 15-under 64-65--129 at the Primland. His opening round 64 is also tied for the second-lowest 18-hole score in school history.
Freshman Jacob Solomon (72.40) will be in the No. 2 spot. He finished second on the team at the Primland, shooting an even-par to tie for 12th, and is one of two golfers on the team to have all five of his rounds counted, the other being All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest (73.60) who is in the No. 3 spot. All-American sophomore Ben Schlottman (75.50) will be in the No. 4 spot followed by freshman Mark Lawrence (81.67) at No. 5.
