FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.. -- Members of the No. 9 Auburn gymnastics teams earned season-bests scores Friday night as the Tigers fell to No. 8 Arkansas, 196.600-195.975, in Barnhill Arena.

"I thought the team showed toughness and resilience tonight and I can't be prouder of the team with how they handled adversity," head coach Jeff Graba said. "The upperclassmen showed great leadership tonight and did a great job on the equipment. We really relied on them tonight."

The Tigers (2-3, 1-3 SEC) opened competition on their strongest event so far this season, scoring a 49.250 on bars. Freshman Emma Engler and sophomore Abby Milliet captured the event title, scoring a 9.875, respectively. That mark was a career-high for Engler. Seniors Kait Kluz and Caitlin Atkinson each finished with a 9.850 for Auburn, while freshman Taylor Krippner closed out scoring with a 9.800.

Next on vault, junior MJ Rott set a season-high with a 9.900 to tie for first overall on the apparatus. Atkinson followed with a 9.875, while Engler and redshirt senior Lexus Demers were awarded a 9.775 each. Krippner's 9.700 capped the scoring for Auburn as the team totaled a 49.025 in the second rotation.

The team earned its best floor score of the season, totaling a 49.275 following solid routines throughout the third rotation. Atkinson tied a season-best in the event, scoring a 9.900 to lead the Tigers. Kluz set a season-high after earning a 9.875 and Rott followed with a 9.850. Junior Kullen Hlawek and Demers finished with a 9.825 a piece for Auburn.

The Tigers closed out the meet on beam and were led by Demers with a 9.850 to tie a season high. Milliet earned a 9.825 and Atkinson scored 9.775 for the Auburn. Hlawek and Krippner each had a 9.650 and a 9.325, respectively, to end the night.

Auburn returns to the road, traveling to Texas Woman's University for a non-conference quad meet, Feb. 5. TWU will host the Tigers, No. 2 Oklahoma and Illinois State with competition beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
