Scott Lazeroff closed out the Georgia Diving Invitational in style. The freshman from Rochester, N.Y., scored a 395.65 to take home a second place finish on the platform, finishing the three-day invitational with three top-10 finishes.
"Anytime you are close to 400 that's a good list," Auburn head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "It was a very strong meet for us. It was a good competition to see where we are in comparison to where we want to be. Now is the time to focus on the corrections we need to make to increase our performance for our next competition."
Lazeroff, who had placed fifth on the 1-meter and 10th on the 3-meter, scored a 72.00 on an armstand back two somersault two-and-a-half twist free on his second dive and averaged a 65.94 over his six dives to finish runner-up.
Pete Turnham just missed a season-best on the platform, scoring a 308.50 to finish tied for eighth for his first top-eight finish of the weekend.
Carly Scheper was Auburn's top finisher on the women's side, scoring a 214.80 over five dives to finish 11th. On the weekend the senior placed fifth on the 3-meter and 11th on the 1-meter to go along with her platform showing.
Maddie Cox scored a 202.25 to finish 16th and Miranda Telmanik scored a 168.10 to finish 29th.
Auburn returns to the pool on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 4 p.m. when it takes on the top-ranked Texas men and the No. 6 Texas women at Austin. Auburn's men are ranked eighth and the women are 10th.
