DENTON, Texas - The No. 10 Auburn gymnastics team reached new season heights Friday as the Tigers scored a season-best 196.825 to finish second at the Texas Woman's University quad meet. No. 2 Oklahoma took first with a 197.925, while Illinois State finished third (191.975) and host TWU came in fourth (191.550).

"With all the change that we've had to endure this week, I thought the team did a fantastic job," head coach Jeff Graba said. "We'll take a lot of confidence away from this meet. We are on a roll and hopefully we can build off this."

The Tigers (4-4) opened strong on beam, finishing with a 49.050. Senior Caitlin Atkinson notched a season-high score of 9.875 for Auburn. Junior Kullen Hlawek kicked off the apparatus with a strong score of 9.800 and was followed by freshman Samantha Cerio with another 9.800. Sophomore Abby Milliet, competing in her hometown, also chipped in a 9.800, while senior Lexus Demers closed out scoring with a 9.775.

Auburn kept momentum going into the second rotation and scored a season-best 49.475 on floor. A trio of Tigers earned a 9.925 in junior MJ Rott, senior Kait Kluz and Atkinson. The score was a career-best for Kluz and tied a career-high for Rott. Demers followed with a 9.875 and Hlawek closed out the scoring with a season-best 9.825.

Another season-best score was reached in the third rotation as Auburn put together a 49.325 on vault. Atkinson led the Tigers with a 9.900, while Demers and Rott each added a 9.875, respectively. Redshirt junior Kelsey Kopec, competing in the event for the first time this season, totaled a 9.850 and freshman Taylor Krippner set a new career-best with a 9.825.

The Tigers closed out the night on bars, totaling a 48.975. Atkinson once again led the squad and finished with a 9.875. Krippner had another career performance, setting a new mark on bars with a 9.875. Kluz followed with a 9.800 and Cerio totaled a 9.775. Kopec closed out scoring with a 9.650.

Atkinson also reached a season-high in the all-around, totaling a 39.575 to come in second overall.

Auburn returns to competition Friday, Feb. 12, hosting rival and No. 4 Alabama at Auburn Arena. The meet is the team's All Auburn, All Orange meet and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.
