OPELIKA, Ala. - No. 3 Auburn men's golf is in first after the second round of the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner on Monday at the par 72, 7,149-yard Grand National Lakes Course.
The Tigers (285-292-577) lead Troy (290-289-579) by two strokes.
All-America sophomore Ben Schlottman is in second at 3-under 71-69-140, one shot off the lead. The Advance, N.C., native climbed 10 spots on Monday, carding a 3-under 69 with birdies on Nos. 4 and 7 of the front nine and 12, 13 and 18 on the back.
All-SEC junior Matt Gilchrest is tied for third at 1-under 68-75-143 while All-SEC senior Michael Johnson is tied for eighth at 1-over 71-74-145.
Gilchrest, a native of Southlake, Texas, eagled No. 4 and birdied Nos. 6, 7, 12 and 14.
Senior Jake Mondy is tied for 27th at 5-over 74-75-149 and Trace Crowe improved 18 spots to tie for 73rdat 83-74-157.
Auburn's B-team, led by junior Will Long who is 2-over 73-73-146, is tied for sixth at 299-296--595.
Freshman Graysen Huff is tied for 22nd at 4-over 74-74-148 while junior Ryan Benton used and even-par second round to climb 30 spots and tie for 27th at 5-over 77-72-149. Freshman Jacob Solomon is tied for 50th at 75-77-152 and freshman Mark Lawrence is tied for 66th at 77-78-155.
Junior Blake Messer, playing as an individual, is tied for 66th at 79-76-155.
Kennesaw State is third at 292-583 followed by UNCG (293-593), Kentucky (300-594), Auburn B, Georgia State (299-595) VCU (300-595), UNCW (292-595) and Mississippi State (304-598).
Kansas State (298-601) is 11th followed by Minnesota (312-603), Southeastern Louisiana (305-608), Ohio State (305-608), Notre Dame (305-611), Jacksonville State (305-612), South Alabama (310-613) and Tulsa (306-620).
