For the second day in a row, Scott Lazeroff and Justin Youtsey have earned spots at the NCAA Championships. Auburn's diving duo finished second and 10th, respectively, on the 1-meter at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships on Thursday at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Youtsey, who was fifth on the 3-meter on Monday, scored a 721.10 to finish second on the 1-meter while Lazeroff scored a 612.45 to finish 10th on the 3-meter a day after placing ninth on the 1-meter. Pete Turnham scored a 281.00 during prelims to finish 19th, one spot out of the finals.
"I'm real proud of Justin's effort today. He had two solid lists, which should give him a great deal of confidence heading into NCAAs, which are at the same pool in a couple of weeks," Auburn diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "Scott was consistent. He gives up a little bit of degree of difficulty on his 1-meter list but he managed to survive another 10th place finish and secure his spot on the 1-meter."
Maddie Cox finished 17th in the women's 1-meter competition, scoring a 554.80.
The NCAA Zone Diving Championships, the final step to securing a spot at the NCAA Championships for divers, concludes on Wednesday with the platform competition. The men will dive at 9 a.m. CT and the women at 1:15 p.m. Live results are available on divemeets.com.
