AUBURN, Ala. - No. 65 Auburn lost a close 4-3 decision to Tennessee Wednesday in the opening round of SEC tournament competition at South Carolina.
The Tigers captured the doubles point with a pair of 7-5 victories by Max Hinnisdaels and Brandon Laubser on court two and by Dante Saleh and Conner Huertas del Pino on court three.
Auburn took a 3-0 lead in the match after singles wins by Dante Saleh, 6-3, 6-0 over Srdjan Jakoljevic on court four, and by Brandon Laubser on court five, 6-3, 6-1 over Jack Schipanski. Tennessee won the remaining singles matches and clinched the overall victory.
The Tigers finish with a 12-14 record. Tennessee will take on fifth-seeded Kentucky (18-8, 7-5 SEC) Thursday afternoon.
