Photo Gallery War Eagle Invite Final Results
Auburn, Ala. - Auburn won seven gold medals and 26 personal or collegiate bests were set during the final day of competition at the War Eagle Invitational Saturday at Hutsell-Rosen Track.
The men's 4x100m relay team of Welington Zaza, Kahlil Henderson, Joshua Burks and Teray Smith posted a strong time of 39.36 to win the event and post the seventh fastest time in the nation this year.
Henderson and Smith each posted personal-bests to finish second and third, respectively, in the men's 200m dash. Henderson posted a 20.58, while Smith crossed in 20.64.
Competing in their final home meet of their careers, seniors Valentina Muzaric, Rachel Dincoff and Jessie Johnson claimed gold medals. Muzaric won the women's shot put with a throw of 56-11.25, while Dincoff, who was second in the shot put, claimed the discus on a toss of 177-8. Johnson won the women's invitational pole vault, clearing 14-2.
Sashel Brown and Michelle Atherley were 1-2 in the women's 400m hurdles, both with personal best times. Brown won in 57.76, while Atherley crossed in 58.78.
Freshman Skyer Daniel won the women's high jump clearing a new PR of 5-8.75.
Rachel Givens won the women's 3,000m steeplechase in 10:56.32, while on the men's side Reilly Shaw was second in a PR time of 9:02.47.
In the long jump, Tigers claimed third place finishes in the men's and women's event, behind freshman Mark Rubalcaba and sophomore Dominique Bullock. Bullock established a new PR with a leap of 21-3.25, while Rubalcaba went 24-6.25.
The women's 4x100m relay team of Jeanine Williams, Jenae Ambrose, Brown and Atherley was second in 44.20.
On Friday night, freshman Kylee Carter broke her own school record in the women's javelin to win the event, highlighting the Tigers' first day of action. Carter's fifth throw of 163-9 broke her school mark set two weeks ago at the Tiger Track Classic.
Junior Alyssa Kopp and freshman Peyton Montgomery were second and third, respectively, with new PRs. Kopp posted a mark of 156-3, while Montgomery went 154-0. Junior Veronica Eder also had a strong performance Friday, claiming gold in the women's 5000m in a PR time of 16:14.32.
