AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Blake Logan hit his third career homer and Jackson Burgreen reached base for the 21st consecutive game, but Auburn baseball fell to No. 4 Mississippi State 16-6 Saturday at Plainsman Park.

"The eight-run second inning gave us no chance," Auburn baseball coach Butch Thompson said. "I hate it for Justin (Camp) on Senior Day because he's meant so much for the program. The guys kept battling but that second inning really buried us."

MSU jumped out to an 8-0 lead on the back of two homers in the second inning.

Burgreen was hit by a pitch in the second inning to extend his reached base streak to a career-best 21 games. He later came into score on a RBI double by Damon Haecker.

The Tigers (22-29, 8-18) added another run in the second on a RBI single by Cody Nulph.

Auburn starter Justin Camp (L, 3-4) was lifted after just 1.1 innings pitched. He allowed eight runs on eight hits. Following Camp, six different relievers pitched for the Tigers on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (36-14-1, 17-9) added one run each in the fifth and sixth innings, then three in the eighth.

Niko Buentello led off the sixth with a single to give him 12 straight SEC games with a hit. After Burgreen reached on an error, Logan crushed his second homer of the season over the monster in left to cut the deficit to 10-5.

Melvin Gray's RBI single closed the Tigers within four at 10-6 after seven. Logan was 2-for-2 with a homer and double.

Austin Sexton allowed five runs over 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts. He improved to 6-2.

Auburn's senior class was honored in a pre-game ceremony on the field.

Auburn and Mississippi State conclude the series Sunday at 1 pm.
