AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Senior Jordan Ebert had two hits in his last SEC game at Plainsman Park, but Auburn baseball fell 10-3 to No. 4 Mississippi State Sunday.

"They pitched it so well this weekend," Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. "[Pilkington] did a great job for a freshman. We just weren't able to generate enough offense to ever draw it back close and make them make a move early today.

"I thought through the fifth it was a really good ballgame and we were just hanging in there waiting for a chance to get into it. We just weren't able to generate enough offense to jar it back close."

Blake Logan added two hits. Melvin Gray scored two runs.

The Bulldogs (37-14-1, 18-9) scored single runs in the third and fourth innings, then added two in the fifth to open up a 4-0 lead.

MSU hit three homers on the day. Nathaniel Lowe was 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBI.

Casey Mize (2-4) allowed four runs in 4.0 innings pitched. He struck out five with two walks.

Auburn (22-30, 8-19) fell behind 7-0 in the seventh inning after a bases loaded walk and two runs came in on a dropped pop up for an error.

Kyler Deese put the Tigers on the board with a sac fly in the seventh. He added a second RBI in the ninth. Anfernee Grier followed with a RBI single.

MSU lefty Konnor Pilkington held Auburn in check over 6.0 innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out four to improve to 3-1.

Auburn is in action next Tuesday at Plainsman Park vs. UAB.
