Auburn senior Rachel Dincoff qualified for her second consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championship in the discus with a throw of 52.25/171-5 Friday at the East Preliminaries. Dincoff joins teammate Alyssa Kopp as Auburn athletes bound for Eugene, Ore., and the national meet in two weeks.

Dincoff's first of three tosses was her longest of the day. It was close for the Waterloo, Ind., native as she was in 11th place after her second toss and 12th after her third throw with 10 competitors behind her. None of the 10 passed her, earning her the 12th and final spot for nationals.

In first round action, juniors Kahlil Henderson and Teray Smith advanced to Saturday's quarterfinal round in the men's 200m. Junior Welington Zaza also moved forward in the men's 110m hurdles after setting a new PR of 13.80 to automatically qualify from his heat.

Freshman Randall Ceneus established a new personal best in the 400m as he finished 13th in 46.25, missing a trip to national's by .14 of a second.

Fellow freshman Reilly Shaw ran just three seconds shy of his PR in the 3000m steeplechase in 8:50.29 to finish 16th.

Senior All-American pole vaulter Jessie Johnson came up short in her quest for back-to-back national appearances. Johnson cleared 4.10m before missing on three passes at 4.20m to finish 18th.

Auburn will have a full day during Saturday's final day of competition. Eight individuals will be in action in seven events along with both the men's and women's 4x100m relays.
