OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The awards just keeping on coming for Auburn softball's Kasey Cooper and Emily Carosone.
Cooper was named a first-team All-America on Wednesday by the National Fastball Coaches Association. Carosone was named to the second team. They were named All-Americans the previous two years as well.
Teammate Jade Rhodes was named third-team All-American on Wednesday in the announcement on the eve of the College World Series.
Cooper was earlier named to the national player of the year by espnW, as well as the Southeastern Conference player of the year and the league's scholar-athlete of the year. She comes into the World Series with 19 home runs, 76 RBIs and a .425 batting average.
Cooper said the fact that she and Carosone have been named All-Americans the last three seasons is a testment to the leadership of Clint Myers and "shows how great a coach Coach is. He's not a Hall of Famer for nothing. He knows what he's talking about."
Carosone, voted the team's MVP and the most valuable player in the last two SEC tournaments, is hitting .405 with 12 home runs and 59 RBIs. She also holds the schools record for being hit by a pitch, a whopping 84 times.
Rhodes hitting .335 with 17 home runs and 66 RBIs this season.
