Auburn golfers doing well in amateur play

AUBURN, Ala. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃƒÆ'¢'¬" Auburn men's golfers Matt Gilchrest, Blake Messer, Trace Crowe, Jacob Solomon and Graysen Huff have performed well in amateur play in the past couple of weeks.

Gilchrest, a rising senior from Southlake, Texas, posted a pair of top 10 finishes tying for sixth at the Sunnehanna Amateur in Johnstown, PA., and t-7 th at the Northeast Amateur at the Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, RI.

Solomon, a Freshman All-SEC and PING All-Southeastern selection, also played in the Sunnehanna and Northeast Amateurs tying for 18th and 38th respectfully.

Huff, a rising sophomore from Eagle, Idaho, won the IGA Men's Match Play Championship by sinking a 15 foot birdie on the 19th hole to defeat Hayden Ritter.

The Southeastern Amateur held at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga., saw Crowe, a rising sophomore, t-5th and Messer t-18th .

Crowe, a native of Bluffton, S.C., also t-13th at the Rice Planters Amateur held at the Snee Farm Country Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Messer, a senior from Hampton Cove, Ala., also t-10th at the Greystone Invitational at the Greystone Golf and CC in Birmingham, Ala.
