Zane Grothe, Micah Lawrence and Annie Lazor each advanced to the semifinals of their respective events on Tuesday at the US Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha. Grothe would finish 16th in the 200-meter freestyle while Lazor and Lawrence would finish 10th and 15th, respectively, in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Grothe, who finished fourth in the 400m freestyle on Sunday, was 11th out of prelims after swimming a 1:48.29. He was not able to keep that pace in Tuesday's semifinals, swimming a 1:50.24.
Lawrence, who was on the US Team in 2012 in the 200-meter breaststroke, swam a 1:07.35, the seventh-fastest time in the 100m breaststroke prelims. Lazor was just behind her in 10th in 1:07.89. Swimming in the semifinals, Lazor went 1:08.00 and Lawrence 1:08.60.
Swimming continues on Tuesday with the prelims of the women's 200-meter freestyle (Jessica Merritt) and the women's 200-meter IM (Ashley Neidigh, Zoe Thatcher). Prelims begin at 10 a.m. CT and can be seen live on the NBC Sports Extra app. All finals sessions air live on NBC beginning at 7 p.m.
